Getting up after watching television, I felt odd on Veteran's Day 2010.
My wife Lori asked me, "What's my name?"
I didn't know the name of the woman I had loved since 1997.
Lori immediately dialed 911.
EMTs arrived in ten minutes and rushed me to a hospital.
I'd had a stroke.
At first, I had trouble talking but I now call it my "lucky stroke" because I was left with no physical problems, just short-term memory things, like forgetting words like a canopy, establish, and detritus.
