Lori remembered reading about Reno on the Internet so that’s what we would try next.
Reno is in the Northwest section of Nevada, along the Nevada-California border, about twenty-two miles from Lake Tahoe. Amazingly, Reno is further west than Los Angeles. Reno is known as The Biggest Little City in the World.
One thing we loved about it was the beautiful Truckee River which winds through the downtown area. Reno sits in a high desert river valley at the foot of the Sierra Nevada.
Reno is known for its casino and tourism industry. However, because of large-scale investments from Seattle and San Francisco Bay companies such as Amazon, Tesla, Panasonic, Microsoft, Apple, and Google, the city has become a new US technology center.
We were delighted to find that there was an excellent Veteran's Administration hospital in town, so we checked in with the housing people at VA and they got us into an historic hotel just a hundred yards from the river. We settled into a furnished studio, and our window gave us a view of the river.
The only problems were that we ended up on the fourth floor with no air conditioning, and the Wi-Fi was shitty.
So, I took my laptop down to a hospitality suite on the first floor to work on a new book, called Deadly Savior.
Old dreams die hard.
Lori managed to get a nanny job right away, so she used the car to get to work.
