1982 A few months after I got out of the hospital after successful cancer surgery, I hosted the annual Lary Awards, Tampa Bay's version of the Tony Awards, at the Golden Apple Dinner Theater in St. Petersburg.
Many years later my mother changed the name of the awards to the STAR awards as revenge for our battle about the future of the awards.
