When I worked as a newsman for WSUN Radio News in St. Petersburg, Florida my beat was Pinellas County government offices and the local courts. So, naturally, I covered the 1976 election.
Jeanne Khoyi Nelson was Supervisor of Elections and she allowed me to broadcast returns on WSUN from her office.
However, she was defeated in a bid to become Pinellas County Clerk of the Court, so a new Supervisor of Elections won. Charles J. Kaniss served for the next 12 years.
