Selling books, CDs, VHS, and DVDs on Amazon

 

In 2002, Lori and I created our own company called Hollywood HQ which allowed us to sell new and used books, CDs, VHS, and DVDs through Amazon. To our amazement, it really took off and we made quite a bit of money in 2002 and 2003.

Each weekend, we would go to yard sales in Hollywood, Brentwood, Malibu, Burbank, and various parts of Los Angeles and buy books and the three media we sold. 

Then, we came home, and I listed everything on Amazon and waited for the orders to come in. I packaged and sent the products. Usually about a dozen orders per day. (Lori was still teaching English at Jordan Middle School in Burbank.)

I remember we bought Disney's Cinderella VHS for five dollars and sold them for thirty dollars. 

At any given time, we'd have a couple hundred books all over our one-bedroom apartment on Pass Avenue.
