Since Lori and I have spent years in theater before we got married, we have had lots of gay friends. That's why neither of us can understand homophobia.
While members of a Unitarian Universalist church in St. Petersburg, Florida, in 2007, we had many lesbian, trans, and gay friends, including our favorite people, Steve and Charles.
We were involved in Pride Parades for a couple of years.
Homophobia is negative attitudes and feelings toward people who are identified or perceived as being lesbian, gay, or bisexual. Contempt, prejudice, aversion, or hatred is based on irrational fear related to religious beliefs.
How can people who claim to follow God, hate other human beings?
Religious fear leads to great brutality as fear always does. Who wrote the bible? Men. The Bible has no condemnation for "loving, committed, gay and lesbian relationships" and Jesus was silent on the subject.
Come on, people, let everyone live as they wish and love who they want.
Stay the hell out of their lives.
